Located near the historic village of Fortingall in the heart of Highland Perthshire. A woodland path leads from the drive, following the River Lyon towards the village.

The Fortingall Hotel has live music on Friday evenings. Fortingall is renowned for its ancient Yew tree thought to be over 5000 years old. Only 5 miles away the picturesque village of Kenmore sits on the shore of Loch Tay; here you can hire a boat or visit the Crannog, a visitor centre about fascinating Iron Age loch dwellings

Not far away there are castles to explore, such as Castle Menzies and Blair Castle, and gardens including Bolfracks and Cluny. Fortingall is at the entrance to Glen Lyon, one of Scotland’s most beautiful glens, surrounded by impressive mountains. Invervar is the starting point for the Glen Lyon Horseshoe, a high level walk taking in four Munros. Other great walks nearby include Ben Lawers and Schiehallion. Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy skiing and snowboarding at Glen Shee, only a couple of hours’ drive away. First class brown trout and salmon fishing is available on the Rivers Lyon, Tay, Dochart and Tummel. There are also water sports on Lochs Tay, Rannoch and Tummel and for golfers there are local courses at Aberfeldy, Kenmore and Strathtay. The famous courses at Gleneagles are only about 40 miles away.

The Watermill in Aberfeldy is an award winning bookshop and is a great place for coffee, and the Birks cinema offers an excellent programme of films from the latest releases to live feeds of ballet, opera and theatre. Ballintaggart have an impressive restaurant and cafe, and lovely coffee served at Glen Lyon Roastery

Pitlochry also has the excellent Festival Theatre and a railway station with frequent trains from Perth, Edinburgh, Inverness and further afield.
